WEST DORSET: The Love to Sing project, coaxing shy singers out of the shower and in front of a microphone, will air as part of a Bridport FM project next week.

Heather Hamer and Eddie Adamberry, of the song-writing and music production partnership Wild Love Music, have been running a project for local singers. The project was aimed at people who belt out their favourite tunes at home or in their car and aimed to encourage them to perform in a professional music studio managed by Eddie and Heather.

Some extraordinary talent emerged, from the oldest singer in town – 71-year-old Stuart Leslie – to the youngest – 16-year-old Beaminster School student Amy Tribe.

Heather said: “We have found some extraordinary talent.

“For all of them it is the first time they have ever sung in front of a microphone in a recording studio.

“After six months of hard slog and great fun, the Love to Sing project is ready to go – and you will get to hear all about it on Bridport FM on Saturday, September 20 at 5pm, in a programme documenting the whole project.

“Ten amateur singers arrived in our studio earlier this year in answer to an article in the Bridport News, and have each recorded one of our songs, or we wrote one especially for them.

“They showed immense courage even to set foot through the door of the studio, and they have dedicated time and effort to sing their songs, and we feel their efforts should be celebrated.

“My song-writing partner, Eddie Adamberry, has recorded an album which will initially be available to download through our website, wildlovemusic. com “Although Wild Love Music has now disbanded, if there’s sufficient interest, we would be prepared to produce a CD, but that would be in the future, and will depend on the listeners to Bridport FM and beyond.

“It’s been a wonderful project to work on, everyone has been so enthusiastic about it from the start, and we thank all our singers for their participation, and also Kate Wilson and Jonty Gray from the arts centre for their support. Who knows, there may be volume two one day. “We only arrived in the town last year, having been seduced by the creative spirit and sense of community we found here. “Thank you Bridport, you have given us a chance to meet some incredible people, and a great start to a new phase in our lives.”
