DANCERS in Dorset are being sought to get involved with an amateur ballet company.

Spirit of Light Ballet is a not-for-profit community interest company and holds regular charity performances in hospitals, homes and churches.

They also perform professionally and their traditional classic ballet Giselle will be showed in the spring in both Dorset and London.

Company and artistic director Caron Yardley said: “We welcome dancers of any training system, standard or background as we are seeking a diverse range of talents, abilities and skills, from chorus to soloist or even principal men are particularly welcome and will be taught how to lift, carry and partner women.”

Spirit of Light Ballet currently rehearses in Dorchester on Saturdays with dancers trained and coached by Caron.

There are no exams or syllabus work as the company is entirely performance-based. There is a waiting list for additional rehearsals to be held in Bournemouth, and interested dancers are advised to inform the company of their interest.

Caron added: “We are also looking for voluntary committee members and have a wide variety of ‘small’ roles for people who are enthusiastic about the arts and want to use their talents.

“Please get in touch with the Dorset Volunteer Centre in Dorchester if you are interested. We also seek a keen amateur photographer and filmmaker.”

Interested dancers are welcome to join in a rehearsal at the Dorchester Wellness Centre on any Saturday from 9.00am to 1.00pm. Just turn up, or email for more information. For full details see www.spiritoflightballet.co.uk or email the company on spiritoflightballet@live.co.uk
