Villagers who have been involved in a history project commemorating the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War will be presenting their findings in the village hall on Friday, September 12.
There will be two presentations of Chideock in the Wars at 3pm and 5pm. These will include Powerpoint presentations, a play about the Chideock egg lady, Chrissie Squire, and memorabilia from both the First and Second World Wars, as well as a section on ‘life goes on in Chideock’.
The research done includes the details of the Chideock men who are remembered on the village war memorial.
There will be photographs and books as well as a war-themed tea. The exhibition will be open for viewing from 2pm and at 3pm Colin Foot will give his presentation.
The play about Chrissie Squire, who sent painted eggs to soldiers during the First World War, is at 4.15pm. This will be followed by remembrance.
Admission is free but any profits made at the event will be given to Help for Heroes.
