BRIDPORT: Crowds will be turning out in force today, Thursday, August 21, to enjoy the annual Melplash Show.

The traditional country show features hundreds of classes and competitions ranging from livestock and showjumping to cookery, handicrafts, photography and art.

There is also a selection of cookery classes, including the popular Best Bridport Banger, which is judged by Richard Balson, of RJ Balson and Sons Butchers.

Food lovers are also in for a treat with cookery demonstrations taking place throughout the day from celebrity chef Mark Hix, cheese-maker Carol Hatch and Helen Choudhury, proprietor of the Taj Mahal restaurant in Bridport.

Organisers were keeping their fingers crossed for good weather with forecasts predicting a mostly dry day with temperatures up to 16 degrees Celsius although there is a possibility of rain in the early afternoon.
