COUNTY: Celebrations are in order as this year’s Lifeboat Week raised a total of £28,000 for the RNLI charity.

Organisers, the Lyme Regis and Charmouth RNLI Guild, announced the total for the 41st Lifeboat Week on Tuesday night, which was a little short of last year’s total of £31,312.

This year, Lifeboat week ran from July 19 until July 26 and organisers were determined to make the event bigger and better than ever before.

Irene Roper, chairman of the organisers, said: “Although slightly less than last year, the result is still a very successful week with overwhelming positive feedback from visitors and residents.

“We staged fewer events this year – for example the barn dance will be held in the October half term, so there’s still a chance to match last year’s total.

“Overall there were some very successful new events and with the incredible generosity of our visitors and residents, it was a week to be proud of.”
