BRIDPORT: Thieves targeted a car at a National Trust car park while the vehicle owners were watching the Red Arrows at Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week.

A spokesperson for the Bridport, Beaminster and Lyme Regis Safer Neighbourhood Teams told The News that a handbag containing bank cards, a mobile phone and car keys were stolen in the incident, which took place on the evening of Thursday, July 24. The spokesperson added: “A door handle on a car was tampered with and damaged in order to gain entry when it was parked at Stonebarrow National Trust car park, whilst the owners were watching the Red Arrows as part of Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week.

“We would urge those who saw anyone acting suspiciously around the area, or anyone with any information, to contact Dorset Police on 101.”
