WOODROFFE School in Lyme Regis has been selected to lead a national maths hub working with a network of schools across the South West.

Staff and governors are delighted to have been selected as one out of 32 schools nationally that will lead the hub, which aims to match the standards achieved in top-performing east Asian countries.

Headteacher Dr Richard Steward attended the national launch of the programme on July 2 at an event hosted by Minister Elizabeth Truss at Downing Street.

He said: “A total of 270 applied to become maths hubs. Only 32 were selected.

“This is an indication of both the quality of the work done in maths at Woodroffe but also recognition of the strengths of the alliance of schools who are part of the hub.

“Woodroffe is an Ofsted outstanding school, a very successful teaching school and now a maths hub.”
