POPULAR Bridport-based photographer Stephen Banks will feature on ITV’s Harbour Lives tomorrow night, Thursday July 17, after his work caught the eye of the show’s producer.

The first of the new series of ITV’s Harbour Lives will be broadcast tomorrow night at 8:30pm on ITV1.

Harbour Lives is a documentary style programme which usually focuses on Sandbanks in Poole, but Stephen’s work caught the eye of the producer at the end of the last series - and the producer was persuaded to look west to Bridport.

In a piece featuring Stephen’s local astrophotography work, he photographs a sunset at West Bay, then ventures to Durdle Door to teach presenter Ben Fogle the tricks of the trade.

One spectacular picture was taken at the end of Stephen’s shoot with Ben Fogle, as the pickup truck taking the crew back to the car park switched on its lights, and pointed them at Durdle Door.

Stephen, 25, who works in Bridport for Watershed PR, said: “It was a fun experience being filmed for a prime-time television show with such a large national audience.

“Hopefully it will continue to push me to get better images of the night skies above Dorset’s iconic landscapes.”

Stephen’s work has brought him many accolades. One of his pictures made the front cover of the Astronomy Photographer of the Year collection book for 2013.

His shot of Portland Bill features on the front cover of the Trinity House Lighthouses Calendar for 2014, and many photography magazines have also featured his images.

In addition, Stephen created the Bridport by Night time-lapse project and made the Dorset by Night feature for the Spirit of Bridport.
