A MAN has been arrested after barricading himself into a bungalow in Bridport.
The incident, which started at approximately 10.30am this morning, July 11, saw police officers and a hazardous area response team (HART) ambulance rush to the scene at Fouracre Close, off of River Vale.
Speaking at the scene, Bridport Police Inspector Mike Darby, said a man in his 50’s was arrested for assault in relation to an assault on a man which happened this morning (July 11).
He added: “Police spoke to the man and he refused to come out of the property.
“Police negotiators, armed officers and public order officers attended due to the fact we believed he had a weapon and after a few hours of negotiation, entry to the property was forced shortly after 1pm.
“The reason we had the resources here was to ensure the man’s safety and the public’s safety.
“The man was compliant on entry into the property and has been arrested.”
