Village history is celebrated
8:00am Friday 4th July 2014 in News
THE spotlight will be on the history of Chideock in a special exhibition taking place this weekend.
The Chideock Society is marking their 25th anniversary with the event at the village hall.
Audio recordings of Chideock residents who grew up in the village talking about life many years ago will be available and there are films and photos of village events, including the VE and VJ Day Commemoration, the re-enactment of the Monmouth Rebellion run by the George Inn, and other celebrations members have taken part in. The exhibition can be seen from 11am to 4pm on Saturday, July 5, and from 11am to 2.30pm on Sunday, July 6.
Sal Robinson, Chideock Society Treasurer, said: “By popular demand we shall be showing again the film taken in 1940 by the Rev Walker, with an illuminating commentary by Professor Denys Brunsden, which made for such an enjoyable evening in April.”
The film begins at 3pm on Sunday.
