MORE than 220 members of the Dorchester and District Skittles League attended the end-of-season presentation night at the Trinity Club.

As a mark of respect, the children of Brian Rose, who sadly passed away during the season, presented the trophies to the winning teams.

Colin, Caroline and Graham Rose were very pleased to be involved and to remember their skittles-loving dad in this way.

The 2013/14 season was played out with teams vying for league positions right up to the last few weeks.

The Patriots won Men’s Section A for the third year running, Section B was won by Wurzels, Section C by Wool RBL Misfits and Section D by Dribs ’n’ Drabs.

Dewlish Monsters won the Knockout Cup and Alcotops the Plate.

The Ladies’ Section was won by Devils, also for a third successive year, and they also did the double for the third time by winning the Ladies’ Knockout Cup.

The Ladies’ Plate was won by Colliton Potshots.

Ryan Green (Breakaways) was the singles champion after a brilliant night of skittles at the Trinity Club, which also saw the Sticker-up Cup won by Peter Stewart-Sykes (Ray’s Old Spice Yokels).

The final 16 open pairs played off at Tom Browns with the eventual winners being Sean Baker and Darryl Burt of Skimmers.

The Secretaries Shield for the men was won by Malcolm Slade (3CA) and Cammilla Gosney (Devils) lifted the Ladies’ Shield.

Pam Bailey and Wendy Burt (Devils) proved to be the top ladies’ pair, while the trophy for most ‘Oxos’ in a season went to Colli Cats with 15.

The fewest number of points was four by the Jokers of Section B, Rob Hallett (Merrymen) was the men’s league’s top scorer with 88 and Tracy Critchell (Devils) was the ladies’ with 78.

For the first time in many years, this season saw a 27-pin stickup achieved by Ian Baker of Half Pints at the Bulls Head.

After the presentation of the trophies there was music provided by SRG Entertainment and members raised more than £230 for the league with a prize draw.

The Dorchester and District Skittles League is always on the lookout for new teams.

If anyone would like to start a new team, either men or women, get in touch with the secretary on 854783 and they will provide all the information needed.
