MORE than 50 people welcomed in the Summer Solstice with a walk by candlelight in Lyme Regis.
Tourists and residents met at the Millennium Clock at Cobb Gate just before midnight on June 20, the longest day of the year, to celebrate what is the shortest night of the year.
Lyme Regis Regatta and Carnival solstice by torchlight saw people collecting their torches and processing along the beach front and up into the gardens.

Teresa Evemy, Chairman of the Regatta and Carnival Committee, said: “It was a beautiful evening with no wind.
“As we walked along the Marine Parade we could hear the sound of the sea making this a very special moment for all taking part.”
Everyone then formed a large circle and a quiet, reflective moment was held.
At the end of the walk the torches were ceremoniously placed in a large metal dish to light a beacon.
The Summer Solstice marks the shortest night of the year and from now on the nights will begin to get longer again.
