DORSET’S ‘unsung heroes’ will be celebrated in this year’s National Carers’ Week from June 9 to June 15.

Dorset County Council has teamed up with Access Dorset to host a range of events aiming to highlight the work of local carers and raise awareness of the local services that can help.

In Dorset, 50,000 people provide care on a regular basis.

Cllr Jill Haynes, Cabinet member for adult social care, pictured left, said: “Dorset’s army of carers, young and old, do vital work in our communities, caring for loved ones as part of their daily lives.

“Carers are the unsung heroes. We want to encourage carers in Dorset to come along to one of the many events across the county, meet other carers and find out more about a range of services available to support them.

“If you are unable to leave the person you care for, please contact the Adult Access team who may be able to arrange a support worker.”

Dorset County Council also aims to work with Access Dorset, NHS Dorset and St John Ambulance to ensure that carers are provided with the necessary assistance. For more information call 01305 221016 or email adultaccess@ dorsetcc.gov.uk
