FRESHWATER Beach Holiday Park has scooped a prestigious property award.

The park near Burton Bradstock beat off other entrants to win the tourism and leisure category in the RICS South West Awards scheme 2014.

Judges said Freshwater Beach has set ‘new standards’ in the tourism industry, and praised its commitment to sustainable features.

The annual contest celebrates inspirational activities in the land, property and construction sectors and the event yesterday, Thursday May 15, was hosted by BBC presenter Alex Lovell.

A spokesman for the awards scheme said: “Designed as an ‘extension to the landscape’ by Southampton based, HPW Architecture, the new 2400 sq m holiday park amenities building located on the highly sensitive World Heritage Jurassic Coast in Dorset has set new standards in the Tourism industry.

“Incorporating many sustainable features, including a ‘green’ roof, which uses native species of salt tolerant grasses and wildflowers, the sensitively designed building sits into, rather than on the landscape.”
