LYME Regis town councillors have selected a new short-term tenant for the former Rinky Tinks ice cream parlour on the seafront.
An extraordinary full council meeting held on Tuesday, April 29, allowed councillors to consider bids for the concession.
The Happy Cupcake Company was the successful applicant and will operate the Cart Road ice cream parlour for the 2014 season.
Deputy town clerk Mark Tredwin said: “In total three tenders were considered and the successful tenderer was the Happy Cupcake Company, who have been given authority to run an ice cream parlour until November 10, 2014.
“They applied to sell, alongside the stipulated products, sandwiches and this was agreed to.
“The council wishes them a successful season on the seafront.”
A long-term lease for the concession will be put out to tender separately and is expected to operate from March 2015.
The council closed Rinky Tinks at the end of March this year after the owners failed to pay the council its rent, resulting in the loss of 15 jobs.
