FIREFIGHTERS helped to free an elderly woman following a car crash on the A35 near Winterbourne Abbas.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service received reports of two people trapped in a vehicle after the single-vehicle crash at around 9.30am on March 30.

Two retained crews from Dorchester attended the incident and on arrival found an elderly woman was medically trapped in the car.

They helped paramedics to gain access to the vehicle to release the woman before leaving the scene at around 11am.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said that no injuries were reported.

He also confirmed that the incident involved a single vehicle that had left the A35 carriageway.

He said the vehicle involved was a Mazda MX-5 registered to a Bournemouth woman.
