THE pressure is mounting as the ultimate group of finalists have been picked for Dorset’s Got Talent.

The final of the talent showcase, in aid of Weldmar Hospicecare Trust, will be held at Freshwater Holiday Centre at Burton Bradstock today, March 15.

Last weekend saw the last chance for people to audition, with more than 20 acts taking to the Freshwater stage to display their skills in a bid to impress the judges.

Matt Smith from Weldmar said the standard had been ‘incredibly high’ and the entries had been very varied including singers, a hula hoop act, a tap dancer, an impressionist and dance troupes.

He said: “The variety this weekend was the biggest we have had so far.

“It was a really mixed bag – it was great and very varied. The standard was outstanding.”

In the end it was three singers who impressed and got the green light from the judges.

Woodroffe School pupil Annabel Davies, aged 12, sang pop hit ‘Titanium’, Lucie Trollope, 20, put a theatrical spin on Queen’s smash ‘Somebody to Love,’ while retro group The Decadettes sang ‘Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree,’ to clinch the last few places.

The overall winner of the competition will receive £500 in cash, donated by Hive Beach Cafe, and a family holiday at Freshwater Holiday Park.
