LYME Regis Town Council has agreed to part fund a fossil-warden for the 2014 season.
Councillors agreed to pay £750 towards the overall cost of the warden at the town management committee meeting last Wednesday.
The warden will work during the Easter and Whitsun holidays, during the Lyme Regis Fossil Festival and full time during the six-week school holiday from late July until August 31.
The overall cost of employing a fossil warden is £4,500 and the National Trust, Charmouth Parish Council and Jurassic Coast Trust joined the town council in funding the position.
The fossil warden will be split between Lyme Regis and Charmouth, with the warden spending one day a week on Monmouth Beach and three days a week on Black Ven in Charmouth.
