Call for lifeguards to patrol beaches of West Dorset
BUDDING lifeguards to patrol West Dorset beaches are being sought for the summer season.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has started its lifeguard recruitment campaign.
The major part of a lifeguard’s role is preventative, with lifeguards offering beachgoers advice including tide times and any potential hazards to avoid, ensuring everybody has a safe and enjoyable day at the beach.
The lifeguards enjoy a competitive rate of pay and recruitment includes comprehensive training.
Lifeguard manager Barry Heathfield said: “This is a great opportunity for someone looking for exciting and rewarding work during the summer.
“Although it’s physically demanding work, all lifeguards receive significant training and support, which leaves them with fantastic skills for life in areas like first aid.
“We’re keen to hear from anyone over 16 who has a valid Lifeguard qualification, and are also looking forward to welcoming back lifeguards who have previously worked for us.”
For people without a valid surf lifesaving qualification, courses will be running in West Dorset from April 14 to 20 for a community rate of £80.
For information on lifeguard courses contact kester_sheppard @rnli.org.uk or see jobs. rnli.org/lifeguards.
The beaches at West Bay and Lyme Regis will have RNLI lifeguard cover from July 5 to September 7.
