TWO long-standing traditions in the Marshwood Vale have had to close through lack of support.

The Golden Cap branch of the Mothers’ Union is disbanding as membership has dwindled to seven and The annual Women’s Day of Prayer last year only attracted seven worshippers.

Mothers’ Union member Pauline Berridge said: “Some of us hope to join the Bridport branch.”

She thanked members, past and present for their support over her years as branch leader.

Mrs Berridge is also involved in the women’s prayer day with Doreen Turner.

She said: “Doreen and I made the decision that it would be better not to have a service in the Golden Cap churches and in with Lyme Regis church and Uplyme Church.

"This makes us sad because services have been held in the Marshwood Vale and Golden Cap churches for many years.”
