MENINGITIS Now is looking for outdoors enthusiasts to join it for a challenge to conquer eight Lake District peaks in two days.

The English 3000s takes on the eight peaks, all above 3,000 feet, including the highest mountain in England – Scafell Pike at 3,209 feet.

The challenge is open to individuals or groups from families or workplaces. It takes place between September 4 and 7 this year and registration, which is now open, costs £75. Those taking part are asked to pledge a minimum of £500 in sponsorship.

The challenge will see trekkers climb Skiddaw, Helvellyn and Helvellyn Lower Man on day one, followed by Scafell, Symonds Knott, Scafell Pike, Broad Crag and Ill Crag on day two. The total distance covered will be around 21.7 miles and the total time spent walking about 21 hours.
