West Dorset law firm, Blanchards Bailey took part in Will Aid, the UK’s top charity will-writing scheme.

It offers everyone the opportunity to make or update their will in return for a donation to help people in need in the UK and all over the world.

The money is shared by nine well-known UK charities: ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (Northern Ireland).

As part of the Will Aid campaign Blanchards Bailey drew up basic wills for local people without charging their usual fee.

In return for this service, the clients made a donation to Will Aid.

Blanchards Bailey had a very busy and successful campaign and wrote over 30 wills for local people. Their contributions mean around £2,700 has been raised for Will Aid. An additional 25 per cent will be added to this through the Gift Aid scheme, making a total of well over £3,375.

Nationwide, the scheme has had its best year ever raising over £1.5m to date.

Solicitor Cordelia English said: “We are proud that Blanchards Bailey of Poundbury and Weymouth were involved.

“The money that has been raised will make a real and lasting difference to the vulnerable children, families and older people with whom the Will Aid charities work.

“We would like to thank all those clients who came to us during the Will Aid campaign, all of whom contributed to this fantastic total. Will Aid helps to improve the lives of local people and those further afield. I am very proud that Blanchards Bailey have played their part.”
