A TASTE of Italian motoring is coming to Bridport as one of town’s dealerships announces a tie-up with Fiat.

Motorwell, on the East Road roundabout, which is already a main Mitsubishi dealer, has a new deal with the Italian company.

And there are hopes that the arrangement will secure jobs – and give customers in the town more choice.

Two jobs will be on offer as a result of the link-up as preparations are made for the first Fiats to appear in the showroom in coming weeks. The business will continue to be a Mitsubishi dealer.

The site has two showrooms and principal dealer David Thompson believes that facility helped clinch the deal.

Motorwell moved to the site at the beginning of 2012 after the Southgate group went into administration.

Motorwell directors Adrian Haylett and Graham Elliott worked to set up the deal for almost a year.

Mr Thompson said: “ I hope that the choice we can offer will lead more people to the town.

“It will also allow us to create more career opportunities.

“It’s good news for Bridport.”
