AN area of Coombe Street in Lyme Regis was closed today after bad weather resulted in a fault in an electrical box.
The fire service taped off part of the road shortly after 4pm, after heavy gales and persistent rain led to water making its way into the box, which is located on the side of a building, resulting in an electrical short circuit.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “The fire service has been dealing with an electricity box that has been arcing out. It appears that water got into the box forcing the electrical short circuit.
“The fire service are now making sure that no members of the public are in danger and making the area safe, and they are waiting for Western Power Distribution to arrive to isolate the power.”
