Fireworks lighting up the sky
IT’S that time of year again when sparklers fizzle, rockets explode, Catherine wheels spin and people enjoy the annual spectacle put on by Bridport Round Table.
The clocks have gone back and winter truly settled in by the time of bonfire night, a tradition started by the charity years ago. This year the event is on Saturday at the Bridport Leisure centre, when the gates open at 6pm and the fireworks will be let off at 8pm.
There is more to do than watch the pyrotechnics though and people are advised to come early to enjoy the plate smashing, Lizzie the Fire Lizard fire display, barbecue, hot chocolate, sparklers and glow products for sale.
Any money raised goes back into local charities.
Family tickets can be bought from Toymaster and Frosts at £10 for two adults and three children, to include a free pack of sparklers.
On the night tickets are £3 per adult and £2 per child.
Round tabler Simon Wakely said: “I would like to thank the Bridport Leisure Centre, Alun Horniblow and Evans Plant hire for their support and the all who have supported us by coming into the event over the years, please come and support us again, it’s the people that make this event so special.”
Last year around 1,000 people came to support the event.
