Bridport graffiti artists to get a blank canvas
GRAFFITI artists will now have somewhere to show off their talent – without alienating anyone.
District council Chairman Gillian Summers has announced plans for a street art project in West Dorset.
The 'good graffiti' project aims to reduce vandalism and damage caused by unsightly graffiti and tagging by channelling the talents and energy of people who want to do graffiti into something positive.
Blank walls will be set up in Bridport, Dorchester and Sherborne and will display the project's logo so those wanting to produce the art can do so in an approved environment.
The sites will be announced on social media through Twitter and Facebook in the coming weeks. You can follow @goodgraffitiWD on Twitter www.twitter.com/goodgraffitiWD) or like the good graffiti Facebook page www.facebook.com/goodgraffiti for updates.
Coun Summers said: "We will start the ball rolling by announcing the locations on the Twitter and Facebook pages shortly.
"This is a simple low-cost venture, no forms to fill out, no money to pay, and no age limit - just an opportunity to show what you can do so long as it's in the right place."
The competition will finish in April, with an award ceremony and prizes given for the best pieces of work.
