Santa's little helpers wanted for Bridport's Christmas Cheer
SANTA is looking for a team of yuletide helpers - to bring plenty of Christmas Cheer to Bridport.
The new-look seasonal festival for the town is being held on Wednesday December 4 this year.
Now the Christmas Cheer committee is on the look-out for volunteers to sign up and make the event go with a swing.
The afternoon and evening is set to offer a wide range of seasonal festivities and celebrations for all the family to enjoy.
The streets will be lined with stalls, a farmers' market, arts, crafts and local food in the WI Hall in North Street, the Arts Centre, town hall and Electric Palace.
The event opens at 4pm when local school choirs will sing carols in Bucky Doo Square.
This will be followed by a full programme of entertainment in the square finishing with mass carol singing at 8pm.
The United Church in East Street will again be hosting the Christmas Tree festival with around 60 sparkling and illuminated trees.
There will be live music throughout the town with local bands performing outside the Bull Hotel and The Ropemakers and fairground rides for all ages.
“Father Christmas will be making a special visit to the town and the Mayor Maggie Ray will switch on the Christmas lights on the tree in the square at 6pm,” said committee member Lucy Hart.
“Children will have the chance to visit Father Christmas whose grotto will be outside the Arts Centre along with a host of children's entertainers.
“The Cheer committee would like to ask if any volunteers are able to help with the event to please get in touch.”
Bridport Christmas Cheer is organised by The Cheer Committee which is made up of local volunteers who all live and work in Bridport. Bridport Christmas Cheer is a community event and offers the opportunity to celebrate and showcase the best of Bridport.
