On October 8, members took part in a digital projected competition evening focusing on the subject of wheels.
Judge Syd Jones, from the Dorchester club, emphasised that he gave substantial weight to photographs which were predominantly showing wheels as it was important not to present photographs where wheels were not dominant. Of 27 images viewed, four were “highly commended”. The winner was Anne Hawken with a novel photograph showing a bicycle parked with its front wheel lodged between the much larger wheels of a lorry.
Second was John Greenbank’s “One Spare” and Harry Worthington’s image of the cog wheels within a wrist watch came third. The meeting concluded with Syd Jones showing some photographs taken mainly in the Scottish Highlands and how manipulation with Photoshop can improve their pictorial quality.
