Refuge could get £3k boost
11:12am Thursday 24th October 2013 in News
LOCAL good causes are in with the chance to win £3,000.
West Dorset Women’s Refuge is one of those in the running to secure vital funds to continue its services.
The charity has been short-listed for the Lloyds Banking Group Community Fund and is urging local people to vote.
It is one of four local groups in with the chance of winning.
The one with the most votes will receive £3,000 and the other two will receive £300.
Molly Rennie, chairman of the refuge advisory committee, said: “For us, this was just amazing.
“A member of staff at Lloyds nominated us – how wonderful to be thought of and nominated by somebody locally.
“We have no funding to do many of the things that we do. To receive this community recognition is wonderful.
“Very importantly, when people go on to the website and see us on there, it raises awareness.
“I’m sure it would be nice for any of the causes to receive the money but for us the awareness-raising is also so important.”
