TWO daredevils have completed a 15,000ft charity skydive in aid of Swanage St Mark’s Primary School.

Bryan Proudly and teaching assistant Martha Legg made the tandem jump to raise funds for a new play trail when the school switches to the former middle school site.

“I would do it again right now,” said Bryan. “It is the best thing I have ever done and it will be well worth seeing the kids faces when we get that new play trail up.”

Meanwhile, Martha said: “I can tick this off my bucket list. I’m glad my instructor told me it was his first tandem jump as an instructor after we landed, but an amazing feeling all round.”

St Marks needs to raise around £10,000 to buy trail and sensory equipment that all their pupils can use, when they move as part of the district’s recent education shake-up.

The Friends of St Mark’s have been tasked with finding ways of raising the cash, and the parachute jump was among the suggestions.

School vice chairman Vikki Proudly, wife of Bryan, explained: “The Purbeck school system has gone from a three tier to a two tier system.

“As a direct result we will be moving to the old Swanage Middle School site in September 2014 and will therefore lose our play trail.

“This is because of health and safety, it will be too risky to move the one we have now at Jubilee Road.

“A few months ago we sat and discussed how much we needed to raise for a new one that would also accommodate our special needs children.”
