Judy sets sights on Worker of the Year award
Judi James from Littlebredy has said she is delighted at finishing the filming stage of UK Worker of the Year, a video which could see her become this year’s winner of the national competition.
Judi, 53, who set up her own RSPCA Freedom Foods veal production unit alongside carrying out her daily farming duties, said she enjoyed the visit of the UK Worker of the Year crew, who filmed and interviewed the finalist at her place of work.
Judi is one of the eight finalists battling for the title of UK Worker of the Year, as competition organisers, along with sponsors Dickies and Suzuki GB, move a significant step closer to finding Britain’s number one worker for 2013 – from across the nation’s workforce.
Judi said: “The filming was quite an experience. You can imagine that as a farmer, normally out on my own in the middle of nowhere, it was a change to find myself in front of a camera.
“It was lovely to get the Longhorn cattle on film, and my beloved tractor, which I use for most of the cultivations and hauling I do.”
The winner of the competition this year will have the luxury of choosing whether they’d like to drive home in a Suzuki Swift car or on a Suzuki GSR 750 motorcycle.
Judi, along with the other seven finalists will know their fate at this year’s gala event, at the Madejski stadium in Reading on October 18.
