LET your hair down and help raise money for a good cause.

Weldmar Hospicecare Trust is asking residents, schools and businesses in Dorset to get out the hairspray for the third Wacky Hair for Hospicecare day to raise money for the Joseph Weld Hospice.

People are invited to join in the fun and have wild and wacky hair for the day to collect funds for their local hospice.

Organiser Mark Howlett said: “It is a fun opportunity for local schools, hairdressers and business to do something fun, different and wacky with their hair for the day and all for a good cause.

“Whether it’s a pink Mohawk, large afro or something completely different with your own hair, the fun is seeing who has the wackiest hair.

“Everyone wakes up each morning with bad hair and spends hours trying to make it look perfect, so why not for one day save yourself the hassle.”

Last year the fundraiser raised more than £2,000 and organisers hope this year will raise even more.

There will also be a competition for the group with the wackiest hair and the winners will be on the posters for the event next year.

It costs £1 each to take part.

Mark said: “Ask your colleagues at work or your friends at school, college or your organisation to take part.

“See who can be as wacky as possible.

“It is a fantastic atmosphere when lots of fellow colleagues or friends get involved and very rewarding to know you’re doing it for such a worthy cause.”

Weldmar is a charity providing special- ist care for cancer and illness sufferers.

All care is provided free of charge, one third of the running costs come from the NHS with more than £5million needed every year through fund-raising to maintain the service.

The event will be held on Friday, October 11, the last day of Hospicecare week which is a national campaign run by Help the Hospices.
