ANTIQUES Roadshow star Paul Atterbury has been announced as the guest of honour for next month’s Uplyme Village Fete.

Organisers hope Dorset resident Mr Atterbury, famed for his astute views and trademark striped jackets, will give an extra boost to the event on Saturday, June 15.

The television star will take part in the procession preceding the fete, joined by other local well-known figures, including East Devon MP Neil Parish and the mayors of both Lyme Regis and Axminster.

Accepting her invitation to take part, Lyme’s mayor Sally Holman said she welcomed the chance “to promote further links between our communities”.

It will be one of Axminster mayor Jeremy Walden’s first official duties since being elected earlier this month.

Fete organisers are promising a bumper event with 50 stall holders confirmed and a programme jam-packed with family events.

The star prize in the Grand Draw is a free flight over Lyme Regis with Wing Commander Mike Jenkins.

Other prizes include family tickets to the Eden Project, lunch for two at the Alexandra Hotel, two tickets for Exeter Chiefs and to the Lyme Folk Festival. The organisers thanked all those who donated prizes.

The fete is from 2pm to 5pm at Uplyme Playing Fields.
