B SHARP has launched a new music website for young people to explore music and the music industry.
The Lyme Regis group is well known for making music projects and has developed an online resource to help young people progress beyond B Sharp.
The group hopes that after firing them up about music, youngsters will continue and grow their interest after each project.
The website bsharpresources.org will act as a signpost to opportunities and support in the world of music.
The first major theme to the site is links to other websites that that may be useful when looking for jobs, training, tuition funding, singing, publicity and promotion, buying, selling or listening to music, what’s on, festivals, and other organisations that support music making.
The second theme is ‘ideas into action’, a set of guidelines about event and project planning, which aim to help young people who want to make things happen, and to encourage innovation and enterprise in music.
Once understood, the principles can be applied to any type of project.
B Sharp chairman Ayvin Rogers has been researching and curating information for the website over the last few months, as part of B Sharp's current project the Big Mix, taking place at The Hub and funded by Youth Music, West Dorset District Council, and Lyme Regis Town Council.
Ayvin said: "This is something we have wanted to do for a long time.
“It seemed an obvious way to signpost young people but it takes time to put everything together and can easily be one of the things you put on the back burner.
He added: “This is just the start and we will be adding more topics as time allows. We hope people will give feedback and give link suggestions to strengthen the resource.”
