LYME Regis Rotary Club will help more disaster-struck families following its latest fundraiser.

The club’s annual Soup and Ploughman's Lunch at the Alexandra Hotel today raised more than £1,000.

This will be donated to the rotary charity Water Survival Box, based in Somerset.

Each box contains water purification equipment and other essential items, such as tools and toothbrushes, and it allows disaster struck families anywhere in the world to purify contaminated water in the early aftermath of natural or manmade disasters.

The Water Survival Box was designed to supply a family of four with clean water for up to one year.

Rotarian John McCallum said: “The rotary club would like to thank the Alexandra Hotel for their continued support and generosity, without which the successful outcome of our fund raising would not have been possible.”
