Lyme Regis: Outside contractor to lock public loos

KEEP local jobs for local people, a councillor has urged.
The town council has decided to employ Glen Cleaning to lock the toilets at Candles on the Cobb Pavilion and Marine Parade later in the evening.
Deputy town clerk John Wright said this would be £4,000 a year cheaper than paying council staff to work overtime.
But some councillors believe the job should be given to a local person.
Coun Michaela Ellis said: “Rather than having our own workers and paying them time-and-a-half or double time, employ someone on a part-time basis. We wouldn’t have to rely on these times, we could use that person flexibly.”
But the council voted to instruct Glen Cleaning to lock the toilets at the following times: November 1 to March 13 – 7pm, March 14 to July 30 – 8pm, July 31 to September 4 – 9.30pm, September 5 to October 31 – 8pm.
