Jurassic airline is clear for take-off

JURASSIC Coast Airlines has been cleared for a return journey by councillors.

Lyme Regis Town Council gave the go ahead for Onboard, a flight with Jurassic Airlines, to come back to the town for three months over the winter.

The simulator, a joint project between Lyme Regis Development Trust and Hartnell Creative Comm- unications, was the flagship of the Earth Festival 2012 and a huge success at the Cultural Olympiad in Weymouth this summer.

Designer Richard Hartnell takes ‘passengers’ on a virtual flight along the Jurassic Coast 250 million years back, then forwards to a glimpse of the future of the planet.

Its success has meant that town councillors gave permission at an extraordinary meeting last week for the ‘airport’ to be installed in the Jubilee Pavilion on the seafront until January.

Tickets will be £6 for adults and £4 for children and concessions. Volunteers running the airline will include students from Woodroffe and Sir John Colfox Schools, Weymouth College, and local residents.
