Plans for West Bay's road improvement scheme to go on show next week
2:00pm Thursday 25th October 2012 in News
PLANS for West Bay’s road improvement scheme are going on show next week.
Residents and businesses are invited to a drop-in session from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday, October 31 at The Salt House in West Bay.
Work is due to start early next month.
West Dorset District Council and county council officers will explain the plans and answer questions on the works which are part of the £1.25 million West Bay enhancement scheme.
The improvements include: l changes to the roundabout at the entrance to West Bay l a gateway feature at the entrance to the West Bay Road car park l an improved pedestrian route from there into the harbour area.
A pedestrian crossing at the junction of George Street and West Bay Road will be provided but has been redesigned to take into account concerns about localised flooding.
The priority at the junction of Station Road and West Bay Road will be changed and the area around the shops and St John’s Church made more pedestrian friendly.
The road improvement works will start on November 5 and are expected to finish at the end of February next year.
Dorset County Council is carrying out the works on behalf of the district council.
