POLICE are also helping to make the streets of Lyme Regis more peaceful.
Officers have been using specialist monitoring equipment to target noisy oversized exhausts since January and have noticed a dramatic improvement.
PCSO White said: “We have had a marked decrease in boy racers since we had the noise monitoring equipment.
“It has had a massive impact on the number of calls and complaints we have had.
“They know if they come here they will get spotted or complained about, we will test their vehicle and they will get a fine if it’s over a certain level, and they have to change it.
“They are going to other places where they don’t have this kit. It’s been a great piece of kit and it’s proved its worth.”
If exhausts are over the noise limit, offending drivers will get a £30 fine and 40 days to change the exhaust.
PCSO White said they have issued nine tickets since they have had the equipment but many more have been tested and passed.
