MORE than 500 people enjoyed the spring sunshine at the annual Lyme Regis May Fete.
A record 35 stalls were set up at the Anning Road Playing Field on Sunday, getting the Lyme Regis Regatta and Carnival's Jubilee year off to a flying start. Almost £2,000 was raised on the day, which the local charities and organisations will keep for themselves.
Stalls included cakes, tombola, games and face painting, and entertainment came from the Lyme Regis Majorettes and the Lyme Regis Junior Town Band.
Entertaining arena displays also came from the St Michael's Primary School Maypole Dancers and the Lyme Regis Taekwondo Club.
The event was opened by town mayor Sally Holman and mayoress Jane Whittington.
Teresa Evemy, chairman of event organisers the regatta and carnival committee, said: "We were delighted with the support we were given. The May Fete has become an established part of the Lyme Regis Calendar and we believe that this year's fete was the biggest ever.
"It is great that local organisations were able to raise so much money for themselves."
