Bridport's Mayor-elect is chosen
 |
| Martin Ray |
TOWN councillor Martin Ray is set to become Bridport's next Mayor.
He has been nominated to succeed fellow Liberal Democrat Geoffrey Ackerman, who in turn is nominated to become his deputy.
Coun Charles Wild is nominated to continue as council leader.
All the appointments need to be confirmed at the annual council meeting on May 22.
Coun Ray said it was a great honour to be chosen Mayor-elect.
"I shall have Geoff to support me and he knows the ropes and will make sure I don't make any gaffs," he said.

Perhaps it is about time that the people of this town, Bridport had a say in who should be Mayor, afterall we elect who should serve on the Council. Having the Council do it for themselves really is a bit of a con, and usually a foregone conclusion. The last time I contacted the Lib Dems was just prior to the 'local' elections and I raised the problem with St Andrews Rd - Sea Rd North junction plus the height of those god dam awful car damaging speed 'mountains' this gentleman who has just been chosen to represent this town promised to look into it..... yeah right on Mr Ray.... thats probably all you did. But action is what is required. Those of us that live aropund this part of town should have been given similar treatment to those around Skilling Hill and had that type of traffic calmimg. I need to drive along this part of St Andrews a few times a day and fear what damage is being caused to steering, ball joints etc. These speed 'mountains' are present 24hrs a day 365 days a year, the school is NOT. Perhaps now you have the 'top rank' position within this town, you can get this matter put rights.......... PLEASE.

Sincere apologies folks for 'posting' again so soon. But I forgot to add something in my previous comment..... Mr Ray, as you live along St Andrews Rd, and probably on the St Andrews Rd (we dont want this or that) Committee, I doubt if anything WILL be done to the junction or speed 'mountains' bring on Lidls, then perhaps the junction will be altered, ut then again we can dream on.
