*THE Inside Out festival in Dorset continues this weekend with performance Furious Folly in Weymouth tonight.

Taking you back to no-man's-land in the Great War, the night-air performance uses sound, light, pyrotechnics and performance to place you on the battlefield. The unmissable night-time performance works in collaboration with 14-18 NOW. The audience will meet at Mount Pleasant Park and Ride in Weymouth and then be directed to the grassy performance area. *A CELEBRATION of art, coastal landscapes and music will transform Dorchester tomorrow at 7.30 pm as the Inside Out festival concludes in this area.

Over the last week, artists have been creating an installation using local and found materials in Maiden Castle. Live music, performance and lights will transform the artwork into a spectacle for the audience. The event is free to attend at Maiden Castle.

*AWARD-WINNING poet Roger McGough takes to the Dorchester stage tonight at 7:30 pm. Accompanied by the musical trio Walter, Steve & Chris of LiTTLe MACHiNe, the group will entertain audiences with an excellent selection of vintage, classic & surprising poems set to music. The evening, celebrating McGough's 50th anniversary, will feature old classics and lots of brand-new material. Mr McGough, President of the Poetry Society, was recently honoured with a CBE for services to literature and will be signing books after the show. Contact Dorchester Arts for tickets.

*A CHARITY concert will take place on Sunday afternoon at 3.30pm, celebrating the works of Dorset composer Rick Birley.

Audiences will hear seven of Birley's folk pieces, performed by a 12-piece ensemble of renowned international musicians at Ashton Barn, Martinstown. For a second year running, the show will be supporting the Parkinson’s Dance, run by Dorchester Arts. Tea and cakes served in the interval, and there will be an opportunity to meet the musicians. *SMEDMORE House and Gardens at Kimmeridge opens its doors for a charity open day on Sunday. Take a stroll around the ground floor and walled gardens of this beautiful house, home to fossils from the famous Etches Collection as well as a chair used by Napoleon.

Hidden in the picturesque Purbeck Hills, you can enjoy a lovely cream tea in the Courtyard Cafe's garden looking out to the gorgeous Jurassic Coast while listening to Wareham Town Band. Gates open at 2 pm and close at 5 pm, giving you plenty of time to walk around the grounds and browse the various stalls. This is a lovely day out in the Dorset countryside while helping to raise funds for the new Kimmeridge Children's Playground. Tickets only available on the door.

*LISTEN to suffragettes of the south west in Dorchester this weekend. Learn about the modern and historical roles of women within society with the Rebellious Sound Archive Listening Booth at Shire Hall. Free to use, listeners can hear stories about women's activism in the South West Region, including an imaginary meeting between the infamous suffragettes Millicent Fawcett and Emmeline Pankhurst. Dreadnought South West, founded in 2012, is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and aims to raise awareness of the courageous women within local communities. *WWE wrestlers from all over the world will invade Sturminster Newton tonight at 7.30 pm, for an evening of live family entertainment. For the first time, The Exchange will be transformed into a custom-made wrestling arena and will deliver more than two hours of grappling action by WWE champions, finishing with the all-important Royal Rumble. *IT'S time to get bluesy, Bridport. British Blues Award winners Catfish will take to the stage of Bridport Electric Palace tomorrow at 8 pm. Fronting the band is 23-year-old guitarist and vocalist Matt Long, who has wowed audiences around the world. Contact Bridport Electric Palace for tickets.
