BARGAIN hunters and music lovers will be flocking to Osmington Village Hall this month.

This weekend antiques fair Foxy Antiques, Curios and Collectables will be held at the hall on Sunday, September 16 from 10am to 4pm.

This lovely little fair in a scenic location will feature knowledgeable traders and interesting stock

Eileen Bramley, of Osmington, said: "It is always worth a visit, whether adding to a collection, looking for a special gift or just browsing.

"It runs on the third Sunday of every month . Entrance and parking is free and new traders are always welcome. Hot food is available all day."

The fair helps to support the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. For more information, call 07816 832554.

*Another event coming up at Osmington Village Hall is a folk performance from Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker on Sunday, September 30 at 7pm.

This time the performance will be a benefit for the hall itself, which is a registered charity

Organiser Eileen Bramley said: "To have music of this calibre in a village hall is no small thing.

"Osmington Village Hall is an ideal music venue and audiences love the intimate atmosphere and the connection between the artist and themselves that a small venue provides."

Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker have become one of Britain’s best-known folk acts, with their performance honed for many years in folk sessions and festivals, tours and gigs, with five very well received albums behind them, all of which has led them to a much-coveted Radio 2 Folk Award for Best Duo.

Original songs have always been part of Josienne and Ben's repertoire (their album, Overnight, includes seven of them), described as being reminiscent of early-70s singer-songwriters.

Josienne is the song-writer, which she says is 'the squishy, lyrical stuff', while Ben sees to the musical arrangements .

They became a duo in 2011, when they released a collection of traditional songs, The Seas Are Deep.

“To share folk songs that you really love with people who were there when they were being played the first-time round is amazing,” she says.
