Autumn continues apace with days out, musical performances and a very special conference this weekend. Read on.

*SEE Dorchester's historic high street as never before on Sunday with Open Dor, the closure of both High West and High East Streets providing a unique opportunity for people to view, and hear associated stories about, one of this country’s longest arrays of listed buildings.

Enjoy a display of photos, old and new, of five centuries of buildings in the High Street.

There will also be a self guided tour around the Roman Town House and modern pavilion and the Roman wall and riverside walks that enclose the old town.

The street will be closed to traffic from 10am to 4pm.

Behind the scenes tours are also on offer at the nearby Shire Hall Historic Courthouse Museum in Dorchester on Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

Also as part of the Heritage Open Days, visit the 12th century St Laurence Church in Upwey, Weymouth which is open between 10am and 4pm today, tomorrow and Sunday.

*b-side festival on Portland finishes up this weekend with art to amuse and intrigue.

See the Clothes Line sculpture at Chesil Cove, take a guided tour of the 'Easton Ridge National Park' or hear Laura Hopes' sound installation on Incline Road.

*CAPTIVATING opera comes to Dorchester Corn Exchange tonight (14) at 7pm.

Opera Holloway return with a fully staged, fresh new contemporary take on one of the most famous love stories of all time, Romeo and Juliet, as depicted by one of opera’s greatest composers, Bellini.

Director Fiona Williams moves the action to 1950s Naples; the stifling heat fans the flames of a budding romance. In this poor neighbourhood, controlled by the mafia, Romeo and Giulietta fight to unite their families and keep their relationship alive.

The cast features Sophie Dicks as Romeo and Callie Gaston as Giulietta, with a piano and string ensemble conducted by Lewis Gaston.

*PAST principal performers from Les Miserables will take to the stage of Weymouth Pavilion for Beyond the Barricade tomorrow at 7.30pm.

It will deliver more than two hours of the best of Broadway and the West End and end with a stunning finale from Les Miserables.

The concert features David Fawcett (Valjean) Andy Reiss ( Enjolras & Resident Director for the National Tour of Les Miserables) Katie Leeming (Eponine) and Poppy Tierney (Cosette), together with a live band who capture the feel of the original orchestrations of the chosen musicals.

*A CONFERENCE exploring the legacy and the current state of community theatre will be held at Dorchester Corn Exchange tomorrow.

It will be led by Stephanie Dale, playwright of Spinning the Moon, the seventh Dorchester Community Play.

*A CELEBRATION of classical music continues in rural Dorset this weekend.

The Plush Festival resumes this weekend with concerts held at the Plush Chapel. The weekend will see all five of Beethoven’s Cello Sonatas performed throughout the weekend, giving a glimpse into every era of his life.

Among the highlights are a lunchtime concert, a Beethoven to Boulez concert and a young musician's workshop which is free for all to enjoy.
