SMASH hit musical Footloose is dancing its way to a Dorset stage.

Bridport Musical Theatre Company (BMTC) is staging Footloose – The Musical at the Electric Palace in Bridport from Tuesday, August 21 to Saturday, August 25.

Brimming over with optimism and fun and based on the hit film that took the world by storm, BMTC brings you this ‘irresistable, lung-bursting blast of 1980s pop culture’ Brian Penn (Everything Musical).

City boy Ren thinks his life is over when he is forced to move to small-town backwater, Bomont with his mother. But things are far worse than he could have ever imagined, as the town has banned dancing following a terrible tragedy.

The ban on dancing is the brainchild of the local preacher and when his daughter sets her sights on Ren trouble is sure to follow. It isn’t long before Ren can’t resist breaking the rules, and he’s not alone.

Footloose the musical sizzles with romance, rebellion and youthful exuberance. Its chart-topping Oscar nominated score includes the classic 80s anthems, Holding Out for a Hero, Almost Paradise, Let’s Hear it for the Boy and, of course, the unforgettable title track Footloose.
