A POET who has been championed by the composer Philip Glass and collaborated with New Order at Carnegie Hall is to perform as part of a super weekend in west Dorset.

Mike Garry will perform with Dr Feelgood at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis on Friday, August 3.

DJ Yoda, who is known for his festival sets, will perform the next day.

Mike's Ode To St. Anthony - a poem dedicated to the Factory Records boss Tony Wilson and put to classical music by the composer Joe Duddell - went to number one in three Official UK charts in August 2015. Mike has toured with John Cooper Clarke in the UK, Ireland, and USA. Mike is regularly asked to support bands like I am Kloot, Badly Drawn Boy and The Fall as his poetry carries a musicality that lends itself to this environment.

Mike is passionate about bringing live poetry to places it wouldn’t normally reach, so also performs in prisons, young offenders institutions, mental health hospitals, children’s homes, youth clubs, and local pubs.

His poetry is regularly heard on BBC Radio 5 Live, Radio 4, and BBC Breakfast. Work with Match of the Day, Sky TV, Manchester United and Nike has elevated Mike’s poetry to an international audience. He’ll be joining Dr Feelgood and Grace Gillan and Jake Miller at a special concert on Friday, August 3.
