AS part of the great Exhibition Bridport Undressed by Bridport Museum, director of the arts centre, Curtis Fulcher, will give a talk about historical fashion and the influences of the time on Tuesday (17) at 7pm.
Curtis has been sewing and making creations since he was a boy, but has also worked as a professional costume designer and maker for theatre shows such as Pride and Prejudice, 39 Steps and Little Women.
Working on stage productions Curtis has provided design and costume production for sets including period productions (Little Women & Pride and Prejudice) as well as contemporary and children’s theatre. Alongside the creations for the stage Curtis has made couture outfits for specific occasions including weddings. And he has been a guest blogger for fabric companies including Minerva Crafts, White Tree Fabrics and Sprout Patterns (US).
This talk will explore the changing fabrics, silhouettes and styles of ladies dress, this is linked to the politics and economics of world history. Curtis will bring in some recreations made for people to touch and examine specifically around the Georgian era.
