Home Library Service volunteers and clients came together for a tea party at Tophill Library on Portland celebrating the Royal Voluntary Service’s 80th Anniversary.
Those attending enjoyed a cream tea provided by the library, as well as an afternoon in good company.
They talked about favourite books and authors, and volunteers and clients reminisced and shared stories about growing up on Portland during and after the war, and how things had changed since then. Transport to and from the library was provided by volunteers, and everybody thoroughly enjoyed the event.
Anybody who finds it difficult to get to their local library can join the Home Library Service free of charge, and have books or talking books delivered to their home every three weeks by a Royal Voluntary Service volunteer: just call the Royal Voluntary Service office on 01305 236666, or e-mail maria.jacobson@royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk for more information.
