DISCOVER more about the benefits of the naturalistic style of gardening during a special guided walk at Wimborne’s Knoll Gardens.
Designing in the naturalistic style takes place on Thursday, June 21 and uses the garden at Knoll as a practical example of gardening inspired by nature.
Led by Neil Lucas, owner of Knoll Gardens, RHS Senior Judge, and the UK’s leading authority on ornamental grasses, visitors can enjoy a walk around his secluded garden as he explains the concepts and techniques that have gone into creating a garden that is good for wildlife and good for the gardener.
Neil said: "Nature doesn't ‘do’ straight lines and boundaries so we tend to avoid them at Knoll too. What we aim to do is create an endless perspective punctuated by our rare trees and shrubs but with the added see-through qualities that tall grasses such as Stipa Goldilocks can bring.
"This really is gardening inspired by nature, which in practice actually requires less work than more traditional gardening schemes. Better still, it also provides food and year-round habitats to an astonishing array of wildlife.”
Designing in the Naturalistic Style costs £15, places are limited. A second walk will run on Thursday, July 12. For more information and booking go to knollgardens.co.uk or call 01202 873931.
