There's so much to fit in this weekend - here's our Guide to what you don't want to miss.

*PREPARE for some Midsummer Madness with the Dorchester Carnival tomorrow.

This year sees the rebrand of Dorchester Carnival with a new theme. It will be a celebration with a difference as the town comes alive with colour, craziness, music and laughter. The procession this year is a walking procession.

The procession will leave the Borough Gardens at 4.30pm, through to the marketplace and across to Brewery Square and South Street.

Usually the procession marks the end of the day – but not this year. Midsummer Madness will continue until 10pm in the Borough Gardens where the headline act will be the Unravelling Wilburys.

*HEAD to Lyme Regis tomorrow (16) to hear Guitars on the Beach.

There will be entertainment and events throughout the day from 10am to 10pm.

At around 4pm an attempt will be made to break the UK record attempt for the most guitarists all playing one song together, currently held by Guitars on the Beach in 2013. That year 2,267 players set the UK record, performing Buddy Holly's Rave On on the Lyme Regis front beach.

For 2018 Tom Petty will be paid tribute to with the guitarists performing Free Falling. Enjoy music with live bands playing while you relax or have a boogie on the beach.

*THERE'S something on at Weymouth Pavilion tonight, tomorrow and Sunday.

If you're a Prince fan, catch Mark Anthony on stage tonight belting out Purple Rain, for those with find memories of the 1960s, The Searchers will be there to entertain tomorrow night and on Sunday, snooker fans can enjoy an evening with John Virgo and Dennis Taylor. *TONIGHT there's another chance to watch Dorchester Youth Theatre perform a double bill of plays - The Wind in the Willows and Ella - at the Corn Exchange from 6.30pm. Call Dorchester Arts box office for tickets.

*FOR the 43rd time Cerne Abbas is welcoming visitors to its Open Gardens tomorrow and Sunday between 2pm and 6pm.

The proceeds will benefit the Cerne Valley Scout Group and the Dorset County Hospital Cancer Appeal. About 25 private gardens which are normally hidden from view will be open.

Tickets costing £7 are available in the car park (open from 11am) or in the village square from 1 pm. All the gardens are within easy walking distance of the free car park (DT2 7GD).

Tea and cake will be served in the church from 1:30 pm and there will be an excellent plant stall in the village square from 1pm (with a crèche to leave your plants for the afternoon).

*GARDEN lovers are spoilt for choice this weekend as there is also the chance to visit Chedington near Beaminster and enjoy the many dazzling and varied gardens in this conservation village tomorrow from 11am to 5pm.

Gardens you can visit range from small cottage gardens to the splendid grounds of Chedington Court. The work of local artists and makers will be on display in their studios and workshops.

Morning coffee and lunch will be served in the village hall from 11am to 2pm. Chedington Great Hall will be open for cream teas from 2pm to 5pm. Plants form the local gardens and nurseries will be for sale and there will also be an activity Treasure Trail for children visiting the gardens

Admission is £5 (children go free), the proceeds going to the Village Hall fund.

*HEAD to Portesham Village Hall tomorrow (16) for a free evening of entertainment with the Festival of Discovery from 7.30pm.

See a series of short, archive films from Windrose Rural Media Trust that capture rural life in Dorset during the past century (or more!). Folk musicians will also help bring silent films and stories alive. Places must be booked at the Dorset AONB website - dorsetaonb.org.uk
